From May 19 to 25, 2025, The Alzheimer's Society is holding their Dementia Action Week to increase awareness for individuals impacted by dementia.
A dementia diagnosis is vital
Dementia can be one of the most debilitating and difficult diagnoses to deal with as a family, with "1 in 3 people in the UK living with dementia not having a diagnosis". It is crucial that the government and NHS prioritise diagnosis as "91% of people affected by dementia say there are benefits to getting a diagnosis". Only with a diagnosis can they then start to receive the help and support they need to manage their condition, and relieve some of the stress and workload on family members.
